Learning various ways in which to manage and be mindful of the way you think can make a huge difference in your daily life. Excessive stress – that is, being overly stressed or stressed all the time – can cause a number of problems and symptoms, including anxiety, depression, insomnia, obsessive-compulsive behaviour, and even weight problems. The good news is, there are coping mechanisms and thinking skills which can dramatically improve the way you deal with stressful situations and events.
The five-week program (1.5 hr sessions per week) and has been designed for busy people who want to learn how to manage stress, depression and anxiety more effectively. The aim of the program is to increase awareness so that you can respond to situations, intentionally and with choice, rather than reacting habitually and automatically. Our counseling can teach you proper management strategies.
On ‘automatic pilot’ we are more likely to have our buttons pressed. By becoming aware of our thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations we have the possibility of not going down the same old mental ruts that may have caused us difficulties in the past.
Here we learn how to use the breath as an anchor and haven. We will also explore bringing awareness into our daily life by practicing mindful walking.
Here we will explore stress and learn how to respond rather than react.
Our thoughts can have a very powerful effect on how we feel and what we do. This session helps us become more aware of the thoughts and images passing through the mind and learning ways to get some distance and perspective on them.
Here we explore how to cope with difficulty through acceptance and how to best take care of you by weaving mindfulness practically into everyday living.
