Having been in private practice since 2005, I offer a supportive and non-judgemental space. My objective is to support you to develop new insight and skills and to overcome difficulties and live life more fully. I believe the fit between therapist and client is very important and encourage you to find a psychologist whom you feel comfortable with.
Having worked in different mental health settings, such as The Sydney Clinic (mood and anxiety unit) Jewishcare, Recovre Psych Services and the corporate sector, I have a depth of experience across a broad range of psychological issues and therapeutic approaches. I am constantly searching out the latest research and get excited exploring innovative ways to achieve optimal and long lasting results with my clients.
During my career, I have been inspired by the transformative impact of mindfulness practice in a therapeutic context. I weave mindfulness into therapy sessions where appropriate and am trained in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Mindful Eating-Binge Eating.
I also recognise that everyone is different and what works for one client doesn’t necessarily work for another. I work closely with clients to identify an approach and treatment strategy that best meets their desired outcomes and timeframes. In my mind, it is important to understand the rationale behind any approach or intervention so I take time to explain how an approach works and what outcomes we can expect.
I have had good success treating clients with a range of issues and disorders including stress, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, emotional instability, self esteem, assertiveness and communication issues, eating disorders, body image issues, self harm behaviours, relationship and parenting problems or difficulties relating to work/studies or career. I have a special interest in emotional dysregulation, compulsive overeating, binge eating and bulimia.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for your interest in therapy. In my view engaging with a psychologist is a worthwhile commitment to yourself and can often be quite life changing.
Please feel free to email me. I look forward to hearing from you.
